Well I'm back and just about recovered from my holiday in NZ and my mate's Stag Weekend which was soon after I returned. Unfortunately I came back to find that my free image hosting service had disappeared so I've had to upload all the images from past articles to a new hosting service, the hopefully more reliable Photobucket. So I am all set up again and ready to starting posting more articles in the next few days.
My top games while I was on holiday were Metroid Fusion and Phalanx on the GBA, and Mario Kart and Yoshi's Island 2 on the DS. I also managed to find a few arcades in New Zealand that had some great older games, such as Metal Slug, RayStorm (the sequel to Layer Section), Raiden Fighters, Sega Rally and Crazy Taxi: High Roller. The latter was played on the North to South Island ferry crossing which coupled with some slightly rough sea made for a somewhat nauseating experience!

Since I've been back I've added an original XBOX to my console collection and been enjoying the likes of OutRun 2, Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus, Rocky and Voodoo Vince. I've also been playing the excellent PES 2008 on the Wii, with it's new control mechanism that revolutionises Football games, and I downloaded my first WiiWare game Star Soldier R. It's a bit of a pity they didn't make a full game, but the time attack style gameplay is a real throwback to the earlier games in the series and makes for an excellent challenge if you only have a few spare minutes. My best score so far on the 2 minute mode is just under 700k...

If you haven't downloaded any WiiWare yet, check out the excellent WiiWare World for an independent view of Nintendo's new service.
